I have extensive experience as a collaborative pianist, répétiteur and repertoire coach for singers and instrumentalists.
I play for recitals, concerts, examinations, auditions, festivals and competitions, and have worked with professional soloists and with amateurs of all ages and ability levels. I have also accompanied and conducted many choirs and choral societies.
As a choir conductor and singer myself, I have a deep understanding of the subtle dynamics at play between soloist and accompanist. A good accompanist is much more than someone who just plays the piano, and knows that any successful musical relationship requires sensitivity, intuition, trust, cooperation, patience, and a sense of humour.
I am a confident sight-reader and can prepare most accompaniments within a day or two. More advanced repertoire (diploma standard and beyond) can take a little longer to learn, but can usually be prepared with a few weeks' notice.
